sir,

I have the honour to transmit for your informa-

tion and consideration copies of a letter from the Chief Jus- tice, Sir John Carrington, and its enclosures relative to the proposed revision of the system of Civil procedure at present

obtaining in the Supreme Court.

You will observe from the minutes of the meet-

ing of the Legal Profession held on the 9th. instant that all

the members present were unanimously in favour of the Chief Justice undertaking the work of revision, but that Mr.J.J. Fran- cis, Q. C., who was not present at the meeting, is of an opposite

opinion for the reasons stated in his letter of the 9th, inst.

to Sir John Carrington, a copy of which I enclose for your con- sideration of the objections therein set forth.
